How to use our ringtones on your iPhone.

General Posts on December 31st, 2009 46 Comments

Some of our applications now feature ringtones. This is a quick guide on how to get the ringtones onto your device.

If you are having any issues then please do post for help here. We cannot help you if you post on iTunes as a review as we are unable to respond that way.

Unfortunately there is no way that we can create an app that will automatically install the ringtones to your phone as per the Apple SDK so this is the only legit way you can add ringtones to your iPhone from an app.

Step 1: Request your ringtone from the application
Step 2: Check your email for your file and save it to your desktop.
Step 3: Drag the file on your desktop to your ringtones folder within iTunes.

Step 4: Make sure ringtone syncing is set to on in iTunes and do a sync.

Your ringtone is now selectable within settings -> sounds -> ringtones on your iPhone.

Is there anyway to get the ringtone on your phone without using your pc/mac?

How can you change the email address registered in the app if you entered it incorrectly or someone elses my mistake?

    • admin says:

Just out of curiosity! How did you enter somebody elses by mistake? It asks for the email twice!

We did it like this to avoid piracy as the ringtones and alarms can only be installed on the device the app was purchased on.

The license section within the app details this.

  3. Curtis says:

It doesn’t say at the point your asked to enter “an” email address that it has to be yours! A warning that you can’t (it seems) change it after would have been nlce. I assumed I was being asked to enter the address I wanted that particular tone sent to, which happened to be that of a friend I was with at the time. The whole license thing hadn’t even occured to me. So can I change it or not? Thanks.

    • admin says:

I have emailed you details. Your Unique device serial number registers for every tone sent so our system will notice if multiple emails have been used breaking our license terms and will not allow further sending of ringtones or alarms from the app or future updates so it is to your own benefit that you follow our license terms in the future.

trying to drag the file from desktop to ringtones file in my iphone is this correct as it won’t let me drop anything

    • admin says:

      Hi Steve,

No, please drag into the ringtones section on the left menu or you can simply double click it. Once you hear it playing you can now sync your ringtones as your new ringtone will automatically add.

  6. Matt says:

  7. Matt says:

    Bought the ringtone pack..
Used the FemFresh and Lipstick ringtone..
Hid my own phone in my flatmate’s handbag..
Placed her handbag by the sofa..
Waited for her and her girlfriends to come back from shopping (she left her bag in the flat) and all sit in a group with wine and having their “girls night in”..
Rang my own phone and watched my flatmate pick up her bag and go BRIGHT RED!
Got slapped.. But SO WORTH IT!
Haven’t laughted so much in ages!!
    Thanx. Jp

Connection good to Internet through wi-fi or 3g. Still states use sandbox …. Any other suggestions?

    • admin says:

The in-app purchase is done through Apple so if your data connection is active it should send you through like everybody else.

As this is an isolated case can you clarify a few things for me?

      1. At which point do you get the error message?
      2. Is your iPhone or iPod jailbroken?
      3. Do you get the error for both the ringtones and the alarm calls?

      Thanks
      Will

After some more searching online I can answer question 2 for you with a big fat yes!

Its because you are using a jailbroken iphone/ipod that has app_sync installed on it probably from cydia. The app_sync add-on is used to access hacked ipa’s so if you don’t plan on using hacked programs try uninstalling app_sync and it should work.

I must let it be known that i do not support the use of jailbroken devices as stealing applications (the main use of a jailbroken phone) can destroy small companies and is a general nuisance in the entire industry.

People try to hide behind the “Try before you buy” analogy but in general the user wont even go on to buy the app even if they do like it. This is proven daily by app sites allowing downloads of illegal applications that also have “lite” versions available on the AppStore.

Please note: I am not accusing you of the above! I am just stating that this is what MOST people jailbreak for!

Hi i am not recieving the email with ringtones from the peter dickenson pocket announcer app i am getting the alam tones fine but not ringtones. Can someone help me please. Also i dont know on my i phone how to set the alarm tone as my alarm tone if that makes sence.

  12. Debaidy says:

Sorry… Not sure what you mean by jailbroken? Is this an app?
    To answer q’s
    1. After accessing your connection and the going through iTunes, entering password and then clicking onward
    2. Jailbroken? Don’t know what this is?
    3. Yes both

and to confirm, as you may have accused me of stealing – if you check your records you will no doubt be able to check inhave purchased this app – £1.19 worth.

    • admin says:

No, I know you haven’t stolen anything. I am stating that you ARE running a jailbroken phone. The error you are getting is common for jailbroken devices. I have explained how you can fix the issue :)

To get the ringtone from your desktop you need to save it to there from the email we send you upon every ringtone request :)

  14. Greg says:

My phone will only let me have 1 of the ringtones? Is this just my phone or can you not have 2 of them at the same time?

    • admin says:

You can have as many as you like and set different ones for different people too. Just make sure the ringtones are set to sync in iTunes
